Leadership for Advancing Practice
This course will enable you to understand the research process, identify evidence to inform practice and to critically explore the concept of clinical leadership in relation to the delivery of evidence based safe and effective person centred care. This module is part of the MSc Advancing Practice programme but can also be undertaken as a stand-alone module.
- Explore the concept of advancing healthcare practice
- Evaluate leadership theories and concepts applicable to health and social care
- Evaluate the change process and its application to improvement methodology
- Reflect on the use of problem-solving strategies in the use of clinical judgement and decision-making practice
- Approaches to personal and professional development within leadership

The module is delivered through online methods, including virtual classroom and discussion forums. You will engage with directed and self-directed learning activities supported by the module team.

Library Support
The Library offers support for your course, including the books, eBooks, and journals you will need. We also offer online reading lists for many modules, workshops and drop-ins on searching skills and referencing, and much more.
This module is suitable for registered nurses, midwives and health and social care professionals.
Normally, you are expected to be able to demonstrate degree level study; however, if this is not the case, you are encouraged to make contact and discuss your circumstances.
