Return to Practice
This short course is designed to help nurses and midwives including those with Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN) qualifications return to the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) register. You will spend a period of time preparing to return to practice before embarking on a suitable clinical placement.
Has your NMC registration lapsed, and you want to return to work as a nurse or midwife?
This Return To Practice course commences with a 7-week theory block of mainly online content. This 7-week block will be the equivalent of full time study. There will be mandatory face-face to sessions involving skills such as basic life support and moving and handling. It is envisaged that these will be provided by your own health board where practicable.
You will then undertake a period of clinical placement which will be in an area within your local health board or private healthcare provider.
There are two application routes available; apply individually via email or through collaborative employment with your relevant health board or private health care provider.
This short course will enable you to meet the NMC professional requirements. The theoretical content will be focussed on preparing you for clinical practice and includes mandatory content in both face-to-face and online formats. You will receive instruction on academic study skills as we are aware it may have been some time since you last studied. Other areas of study include; professional aspects of health care, clinical skills, numeracy and contemporary care delivery.
