Overview

Funded by the Offshore Training Foundation and managed in partnership with OPITO, this scholarship has been founded as a memorial to the Piper Alpha disaster, in which 167 men lost their lives. The scholarship will provide a long lasting and positive legacy, focusing on the health and safety improvements which can be made in the offshore energy sector.

This scholarship is open to students undertaking MSc studies relevant to the oil and gas industry. Full details of these courses are contained in the application criteria; however we would highlight the requirements with respect to content/focus of the dissertation (safety in the oil and gas industry).

Applicants should have formally accepted the offer from Robert Gordon University to study one of the relevant courses. Applicants should have enrolled in the first year of their chosen degree programme in September 2019.

How to Apply

The selection process begins with students completing an application form which will be reviewed by a panel consisting of representatives from the University who will then shortlist a group of high academic performers. This group will be invited to attend an interview at OPITO and the award winner will be selected from this group of students.
