Robert Gordon University’s (RGU) Aberdeen Business School has once again been recognised on the global stage for its continued excellence in a wide variety of effective practices to put them in a unique band of business schools.

The school has successfully had its accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) renewed for a further five years, placing it among just four in Scotland and only around 5% of the world’s business schools.

Aberdeen Business School was commended on its strengths in possessing professional certifications on each of its courses; providing trained practitioners as key frontline lecturers; its curriculum design; and its success of the Graduate Apprenticeship scheme.

The school was also recognised for its efforts in student satisfaction, emphasised by the recent Complete University Guide and National Student Surveys, and its ever-evolving, student-centred approach to learning.

Professor Elizabeth Gammie, Dean of Aberdeen Business School at RGU, said: “This is excellent news for Aberdeen Business School and the wider University and testament to our staff who put in so much hard work to ensure we’re providing a centre of excellence for our business students.

“Having first gained this accreditation in 2018, Aberdeen and indeed the world is now in a very different place so to be able to develop, adapt and in many cases improve our offerings to students is a feat that we are very proud of.”

An AACSB accreditation is renowned globally as the ‘most recognised form of specialised accreditation’ for business schools an includes an extensive review of their entire ethos, curricula, qualifications, and people.

“AACSB congratulates each institution on their achievement,” said Stephanie M. Bryant, executive vice president and global chief accreditation officer of AACSB.

“The Aberdeen Business School has demonstrated a focus on excellence in all areas, including teaching, research, curricula development, and student learning. The intense peer-review process exemplifies their commitment to quality business education.”

Aberdeen Business School is located in the Riverside Building in the heart of RGU’s Garthdee Campus. It was voted Business School of the Year in 2020 (THE Awards) and regularly has subjects featuring at the top of league tables with an excellent reputation in student satisfaction and graduate prospects.
