This course is designed to allow participants to understand the nature, context, and format of financial information of companies and to develop knowledge of financial and management accounting techniques to support business decision making.

The course will be delivered online using the University’s virtual learning environment, Moodle.
This is a 10-week course with 7 weeks for teaching and 2 weeks for working on the assessment and submission.
Teaching will use a range of structured learning materials/activities and directed study, facilitated by regular online tutor contact, allowing students to contextualise their learning to their own workplace where appropriate.
There will be approximately 1-2 hours of lectures per week and 1.5 hours of seminars per week.
This course is completed through online independent study. It is expected that you will spend a minimum of 150 hours study over the 10 weeks of the module, including the preparation and submission of your written assessment. Your academic tutor will be there to support you through the module.
This course is assessed through one written report.
Academic staff who teach on this course are all qualified chartered accountants with extensive professional backgrounds. Our staff have either achieved Fellowship of Advance HE or are working towards this. This is a professional recognition of lecturer practice, impact and leadership in teaching and learning. In addition, many have featured in the annual Support and Teaching staff with Appreciation and Recognition (STAR) awards voted by the students and organised by RGU:Union.
Those who complete this course and achieve 15 credits can use this credit towards the BA (Hons) Business Management degree.
Subject to meeting the entry requirements, students enrolling on the Business Management degree can achieve an unclassified degree after one year of study or an Honours degree after two years of study.
