Mechanical and Offshore Engineering

BEng (Hons)
lecturer explaining engineering setup to students
Undergraduate

Apply mechanical engineering to the challenging world of offshore and energy systems. Combining mechanical engineering with specialist study of offshore structures, hydrodynamics, drilling and production, this course prepares you to design, analyse and support engineering systems operating in some of the world's most demanding environments.

Develop strong mechanical engineering foundations before progressing to specialist offshore applications, including offshore hydrodynamics and structural loading, drilling, well completion and production engineering. Practical learning, computational analysis and engineering projects develop your ability to address the performance, safety and reliability of offshore systems. The combination of mechanical and offshore expertise prepares you for opportunities across offshore, subsea and wider energy industries.

The first two years are common across our Mechanical Engineering courses. At the end of Year 2, you can make an informed decision about which route you wish to take.
