New rankings score RGU among top of the class

The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2024 is the latest university league table to acknowledge Robert Gordon University (RGU) as one of the UK’s best institutions for both teaching quality and student experience.

Released today (September 15), the guide places RGU as second in Scotland and in the top 10 in the UK for teaching quality as well as third in Scotland and in the UK’s top 20 for student experience.

Overall subject ranking has seen 12 in the top three in Scotland, including eight of them first, for teaching quality while 12 also feature in the UK’s top 20. Both Building and Physiotherapy was rated top in the UK for this measure.

For student experience, 11 subjects feature in the top three in Scotland with nine of them at top spot and a further 12 also appearing in the top 20 in the UK - Physiotherapy again placing top in the UK.

Latterly, the guide also scores six RGU subjects first in Scotland for graduate prospects as well as six in the top 20 of the UK for the same measure. Physiotherapy was joined by Biological Science as top in the UK for graduate prospects.

Overall, the University has risen three places in the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide to its highest position since 2014/15.

Last week RGU also recorded impressive results in the Guardian University Guide 2024, placing third in Scotland and in the UK’s top 10 for satisfaction in teaching as well as second in Scotland for assessment satisfaction.

Other good news included seven subjects featuring in the overall top 3 in Scotland as well as Physiotherapy overall first in the UK. There was a further seven subjects that finished top in Scotland for career prospects, from Biomedical Sciences to Social Work and Construction, Surveying and Planning.

In what is university league table season, last month’s National Student Survey (NSS) placings scored RGU at 82.4% overall satisfaction which was followed up by the Times Higher Education (THE) which placed RGU second in Scotland and in the top 10 in the UK for student satisfaction.

The Daily Mail University Guide ranked RGU second in Scotland and in the top 10 in the UK for teaching excellence as well as second and third in Scotland for student support and student experience respectively.

In the Complete University Guide 2024 earlier in the year, RGU was marked as Scotland’s highest climbers and again in the UK’s top 10 for student satisfaction. Many courses were also again graded top in Scotland for both graduate prospect measures and student satisfaction.
