Your studies will include an introduction to sustainable development within the construction industry, in addition to a critical analysis of the challenges involved in developing and enhancing the built environment with responsibility to the local and global environment, society and communities.

There is a need to act to address the growing concern of climate change, in addition to the local and global issues that arise associated with this challenge.

This course provides understanding of how climate change connects to the Built Environment and construction industry, as well as ways in which the industry is trying to meet the sustainability agenda (both sustainable buildings and sustainable practices).

The module covers the key ideas behind sustainable development within the construction industry, methods to reduce carbon emissions, embodied carbon and life cycle assessment, water management, sustainable urban design and sustainable communities.
