Assessing the restorative impacts of virtual nature
Research Opportunities
Summary
This research aims to identify key attributes of natural spaces that provide restorative benefits, comparing the effects of real-world nature experiences with simulated experiences. Participants will engage with natural environments both physically and through digital simulations in immersive spaces and VR headsets. By analysing responses across these settings, the study will evaluate how specific environmental features impact psychological restoration. Insights will focus on the effectiveness of each medium (real, immersive, VR) in eliciting a sense of calm, rejuvenation, and mental recovery, helping to better understand the potential of virtual nature for promoting well-being.
