Developing a Typology of Climate Action Hubs in Scotland: Understanding Diversity, Challenges, and Best Practices
Research Opportunities
Summary
Climate Action Hubs have become vital centres to advance climate action and education in many communities across Scotland. The place-based approach adopted means that these hubs are varied and unique to the needs of the community. However, the diversity among these hubs has led to varied approaches, successes, and challenges, which this study seeks to systematically explore and understand.
The proposed research aims to create a typology of Climate Action hubs across Scotland by examining and categorizing them based on their operational models, focus areas, community engagement strategies, and geographic settings. Specifically, the study will 1. Identify and categorize the different types of Climate Action Hubs in Scotland 2. Analyse the challenges and opportunities faced by the different hubs particularly in urban versus rural settings and 3. Provide insights and best practices to improve the effectiveness of these hubs.
The proposed typology will provide a structured framework to understand the landscape of Climate Action Hubs in Scotland, making it easier to identify successful strategies and adapt them to different contexts. Additionally, the research will offer practical insights and recommendations to stakeholders including local governments and community leaders to enhance grassroot climate action.
