Connecting Mind and Digital Creativity: a digital modular approach & workflow
Research Opportunities
Summary
This research seeks to introduce a procedural and temporal perspective for understanding options of computational design thinking, using modular origami to test design options. The project will review the contemporary practice in the fields of computational architecture, design, and fabrication and the challenges they pose to the modular fabrication of origami. This will be addressed while developing an origami-inspired account of an effective engagement with computational design to create origami-inspired environmental design devices. In addition, an informative base will be created for different design options to permit functional integration across a range of software programs allowing for modular manipulation, combination, and re-use of the modular options across different phases of architectural design and fabrication.
