An investigation into project management skills required for sustainable buildings
Research Opportunities
Summary
One of the primary concerns for this transition is associated with the skills needed for the construction workforce, more specifically the challenges associated with the need for a 'green' skill or the occurrence of skills gaps. A key member of the workforce and driver of sustainable building projects is the project manager. The aim of this research is to investigate the skills required for project managers involved in sustainable building projects, an identification of the sustainable project management skills and any skill development that may be required. The research will seek to study sustainable building projects, seek to study the role of the project manager and understanding the skills required to undertake and deliver the project, in addition to analysing skill challenges and further areas of development required for the project manager. This research will add to the current understanding of 'green' skills for the construction workforce and project management skills, in addition to greater insight into sustainable project management skills.
