An inter-disciplinary approach to Healthy City
Research Opportunities
Summary
Traditional cities often lack attention to proper regeneration and retrofit planning. As a result, the built environment affects the mental and physical health of the inhabitants arising directly from the negative physical attributes. These are the poor provision of the public realm, hindrance to access to communal space, sick building conditions, and other issues that require interdisciplinary approaches for architectural, urban design and planning intervention. The interdisciplinary dialogues are effective, yet not positive, without the rapport between other stakeholders and urban managers - politicians, community and investors.
This research is premature for many reasons, and the research premise is potential for architects, planners, urban designers, human geographies, who can explore the health in more profound research concerning urban/rural conditions.
