1Overview
Mike Tastard was a distinguished Scottish Architect whose career was defined by design excellence, leadership, and service to the public sector. A graduate of the Scott Sutherland School of Architecture & Built Environment, Mike earned the Aberdeen Society of Architects Silver Medal and the Harbourne MacLennan Prize.
As a lasting tribute and memory to a distinguished architect and graduate and in recognition of Mike’s values, interests, and his family’s roots on Orkney his family would like to establish a 4 year scholarship to an Orcadian Student studying at The Scott Sutherland School of Architecture & Built Environment.

To be eligible to apply for the Mike Tasard Memorial Scholarship (Orcadian Student) you must be:
- Born and brought up on Orkney
- Starting your first year of study with Scott Sutherland School of Architecture and Built Environment in Autumn 2026
- Studying full-time and on-campus
- Studying your first undergraduate degree
- Enthusiastic, highly motivated and determined to succeed academically and professional
How to Apply
To apply for the funding please submit the application form by 12 noon on Tuesday 30 June 2026.
Your application should be completed in one go, so please prepare your answers in advance.
If successful, you may be asked to submit copies of any supporting documents referred to in your application such as SAAS or EMA Award Letters. Applications will be considered on an individual basis, and you will be informed of the outcome by Friday 10 July 2026.
