The former Yugoslavia dissolved violently in the 1990s, but notions of “Yugoslavism” and discussion of Yugoslav politics and culture persist in the Western Balkan region, from all different perspectives.

Summary
This PhD call seeks an art/cultural historian or practising artist or curator, to conduct research into an aspect or aspects, of the persistence of the Yugoslav past in present post-Yugoslav visual culture.
This could be done via case study, via a consideration of individual artistic profiles, or by practice, through the presentation of a linked set of curated events held both in the region and in Scotland.
