Accountancy firm supports latest RGU scholarship

Through their own charity, the Anderson Anderson & Brown Charitable Initiative (AABi), the firm is funding the scholarship to support a BA (Hons) Accounting & Finance student.
Jessica Nicol, Human Resources Manager at AAB, said: "AABi is delighted to support the 'Anderson Anderson & Brown Access Scholarship in Accounting and Finance' for the second year running.
"Given the nature of the industry and our strong partnership with Robert Gordon University, supporting the career development of bright and ambitious students is something we feel very strongly about and we are very proud to be part of the RGU Foundation Scholarship programme. Through AABi our team is able to be actively involved in investing back into our profession and influencing its future direction, which is something our people feel very passionate about."
In addition to financial support, the scholarship offers a paid placement and the support of a dedicated professional mentor. This year's scholarship has been awarded to Klaudia Karczewska who joined RGU from St Machar Academy after taking part in an Access to RGU programme.
She will be mentored by Frazer Nicol, Corporate Tax Manager at AAB, who graduated from RGU in 2012 with a first class degree in Accounting and Finance.
Frazer said: "I am really looking forward to mentoring our scholarship student to support her exciting journey through university and it will be a pleasure to watch her grow and develop her experience through her placement year with the firm.
"I am delighted to be approached to be part of the programme being an RGU alumnus myself, and having completed my third year placement with the firm, I'm looking forward to the opportunity to give something back."
As well as the scholarship AAB offers placements to 10 RGU students every year, which feeds into the company's recruitment programme.
Sarah Dingwall, Development Manager at the RGU Foundation, said: "We are delighted and grateful that AAB has decided to support access scholarships at RGU.
"Their support recognises academic achievement, raises aspirations, and encourages potential in students who otherwise may not be able to benefit from a university education."
