Family Fun: A Day in the Life of Art School
Monday 09 February 2026 10:30 - 15:30
Location: Learning Space, Aberdeen Art Gallery, Schoolhill, Aberdeen, AB10 1FQ
Step into a world of colour and creativity and experience the playful spirit of art school in a studio-like environment. Explore drawing, printing, sculpting, and design, and meet current Gray’s students and alumni.
As part of the Gray’s 140 programme and in celebration of the exhibition Gray’s School of Art: 140 Years – Never Make a Head Bigger Than a Melon, this public engagement event invites audiences to take part in hands-on art and design activities.
Creative stations are led by current Gray’s students and alumni, offering insight into studio practice while encouraging experimentation and imagination. Prospective students of Gray’s School of Art are also invited to participate.
There is plenty to explore, you can drop-in to sessions throughout the day and you're welcome to stay for up to 30 minutes.
No experience is required, and all materials are provided. Suitable for families with children aged 8 and over; children must be accompanied by an adult.
Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting messy!
No registration is needed and admission is free. Drop-in sessions will run between 10:30 - 12:30 and 13:30 - 15:30. There are no sessions available during 12:30 - 13:30. Please consider making a donation to AAGM before you leave - there are donation boxes and cashless 'tap-to-give' units around the building.
The event is funded by Gray’s School of Art, Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen Art Gallery, Aberdeen City Council and Creative Scotland.
