- Share verified academic information securely with employers or other institutions
- Present a comprehensive record of academic performance and approved non-academic achievements
- Evidence engagement beyond the curriculum when applying for employment or further study
Eligibility
You are eligible for a Diploma Supplement if you graduated from July 2013 onwards.
You are not eligible if you were/are:
- Research students
- Short course students
- CPD students
- Erasmus students
About the Diploma Supplement
Format
The Diploma Supplement follows the standard model developed by the European Commission, the Council of Europe and UNESCO/CEPES.
The Example document is not currently accessible as it is a restricted download directly from GradIntel. We will work with GradIntel to resolve these issues, but if you need this document in a different format, please get in touch with Student Records.
Content
Only module results and awards formally ratified by University Assessment Boards are included.
The Diploma Supplement records:
- Award and classification (where applicable)
- Main field of study
- Mode of attendance
- Commencement and award dates
- Modules and outcomes
- Approved non-degree achievements
Non-Degree Achievements
Non-degree achievements included in the Diploma Supplement are approved by the University’s Academic Council in line with agreed principles.
Principles of Inclusion
Achievements must demonstrate:
- Academic contribution (e.g. university prizes, representative roles)
- Non-academic contribution aligned with the University’s strategic priorities (e.g. sport, engagement, partnerships)
- External accreditation recognised by the University (e.g. Saltire Awards, Duke of Edinburgh Award)
In addition, achievements must be:
- Exclusively available to RGU students
- Open to all students in principle
- Verifiable and endorsed by the University and/or the Student Union

How to find and use a Diploma Supplement
Accounts are created automatically as part of University registration and activated following graduation.
Students/Graduates
Use of Gradintel is free of charge.
Graduates will receive an email to their University account with instructions to activate their Gradintel account. After graduation, the final electronic Diploma Supplement remains accessible via Gradintel once it has been issued and will remain accessible for life.
Graduates control access to their Diploma Supplement and may securely share it with employers, institutions, or other third parties via Gradintel.
Robert Gordon University does not have access to any personal information uploaded by graduates to Gradintel.
Employers
The Diploma Supplement provides employers with a secure, verifiable record of a graduate’s academic award and approved achievements.
Verification is completed through the Gradintel platform, significantly reducing confirmation times.
Alumni
Since July 2013, Robert Gordon University has issued official academic documents electronically via the Gradintel platform. The type of document issued depends on your level and mode of study, and your graduation date:
July 2013 – December 2025
Full time undergraduate students received a Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR).
Postgraduate students and part time undergraduate students received a Diploma Supplement.
From July 2025 onwards
All RGU graduates receive a Diploma Supplement, regardless of level or mode of study.
