Extra-Curricular Innovation Learning

Innovation Skills and Tools

The Innovation Skills and Tools suite of short courses offers students, staff and alumni free extra-curricular training and workshops on a range of subjects in innovation and entrepreneurship. The programme had over 600 participants during the 2018/19 academic year.

Launched in Autumn 2018, Innovation Skills & Tools is a new suite of free and extra-curricular short courses to equip students, staff and alumni with essential expertise for the next generation of jobs and industries.

All of the university’s innovation skills programmes are Pracademic e.g. practitioner-taught and practice oriented. Examples of modules include: Introduction to Innovation, Design Thinking, Introduction to Entrepreneurship, Intellectual Property Explained, Social Entrepreneurship and Innovation for Industry. These modules are 2-4 hours long and are run over a short number of days and then repeated throughout the semesters.

The modules are free for students, staff and alumni and taught at lunchtimes, evenings and weekends. These courses are part of RGU’s commitment to ‘future-proof’ graduates for a lifetime career by offering professional learning for changing environments and differing employer needs.
