Why did you choose RGU?
For me, I was looking to progress my early learning from college, and RGU had the best course suited to me and my learning type - practical learning, real life placement opportunities, a chance to live abroad with the ERASMUS+ programme, proper hands-on experience that I could really benefit from.
How would you describe the learning environment and support at RGU?
Nothing short of fantastic! While at RGU, my dissertation lecturer flagged that I could be dyslexic based on my written work. I was put forward for tests, and it was confirmed, I was dyslexic. That discovery finally made my whole learning journey make sense: from what had felt like a lack of ability in Academy, to my strong need for practical, hands-on experience. From that moment on, RGU gave me additional support, extra time in exams, equipment to help with reading, and access to multiple other areas of support, all of which really helped me not only during Uni, but after as well.
Did you take part in any placement, internships or industry projects during your studies?
Yes! In 2nd year, I took part in the ERASMUS+ programme and had the opportunity to live in Cyprus, which was just fantastic! An incredible way to broaden my horizons. In 3rd year, I had a year-long work placement, this allowed me to earn money while building up skills that I could take forward into my career after Uni.
Tell us about your current role and what a typical day looks like?
I now own my own business, The Juicing Co. - a concept that began in my kitchen after spotting a gap in the market, and which has since grown into our very own Juicery in Chapelton, Aberdeen’s first raw, cold-pressed juicery. We’ve proudly supplied multiple prime-time TV shows, including Dancing on Ice (Celebs & Pros), Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, and The Voice 2024/2025.
No two days are ever the same. My work ranges from being hands-on in the Juicery, to managing emails, orders, suppliers, developing new products, and building marketing strategies. Most recently, I launched The Nourishment Series - a programme of workshops and events designed to educate and empower people to take their health back into their own hands.
Alongside running the business, I’m also a mum to three little ones - so life is very much full-on!
What are you currently working on or excited about for the future?
We are currently working on a very large contract with an oil company, supplying 2,500 juices for their rebrand launch at Offshore Europe. This is our biggest single project to date, with bespoke juices created to match their colour scheme, along with customised labelling. I’m really excited to bring this project to life.
We’re also set to supply juices to the judges of The Voice 2025 for the filming of the finals, and we continue to collaborate with incredible local businesses, catering for their events. There are lots of exciting plans ahead for the growth of The Juicing Co.
Imagine you’re back at RGU as a guest speaker – what would you love to share with the students?
To take the chance, grasp the opportunities given to you, join that club, find your gang and use the time to travel and grow. And to never give up on your dreams, it's all possible!
In one word, how would you sum up your RGU experience?
Life-changing
