Martin is a chartered accountant who retired from professional practice in 2023 after a career which spanned 36 years.

This included 23 years as a partner in KPMG UK and 6 years as Office Senior Partner in Aberdeen.

He is now engaged in various voluntary roles.

  • I hold a Capital interest in KPMG LLP, having been an equity partner until April 30th, 2023. The Capital interest is repayable in fixed annual instalments until September 2029. KPMG LLP is understood (as a matter of public record) to provide internal audit services to Robert Gordon University and may provide other services. I have no knowledge of such services. Under the terms of my Capital interest, I sought and received clearance from KPMG LLP that they had no objection to my appointment as an external member of the Audit Committee. I do not consider that the Capital interest will impact on my objectivity or would be perceived to impact KPMG LLP’s objectivity as outsourced provider, with that ultimately being a matter for Robert Gordon University and its Audit Committee to consider.
