Information Governance

Information Governance

Information governance at Robert Gordon University is composed of three components; Freedom of Information, Environmental Information and Data Protection.

Freedom of Information

The Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 requires public authorities to adopt a publication scheme which is a means of making information available pro-actively.

Data Protection

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a new legal framework for data protection applying to all member states since 25 May 2018. GDPR replaces the Data Protection Act 1998 and brings some new requirements on organisations that obtain, hold, use or store personal data.

Environmental Information

Under Section 62 of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act, Scottish public authorities have a commitment of disclosure with regards to environmental information under the Environmental Information (Scotland) Regulations 2004.
