Information governance at Robert Gordon University is composed of three components; Freedom of Information, Environmental Information and Data Protection.
Information Governance in the university is the responsibility of the Records Management Department which ensures that the university complies fully with its statutory obligations under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002, Environmental Information (Scotland) Regulations 2004, INSPIRE (Scotland) Regulations 2009 (PDF 145KB) and the Data Protection Act 1998.
Information Governance is a holistic approach of managing information through a rigorous framework of policies, procedures and controls. It involves dealing with all aspects of information management, right from its creation to maintenance, storage, use, retention and destruction.
