English Requirements For Our Courses

Visa Requirements & Proof of English Language

If a visa is required in order to study in the UK then applicants need to meet both the UKVI and Robert Gordon Universities academic English requirement.

As a Registered Licenced Sponsor for Student Route visas we are able to accept a wide range of English Evidence.

It is an academic and visa requirement to provide evidence of your level of English. This evidence of English may be where the University has assessed the Certificate (such as accepted secondary school English results) and confirms to the UKVI on your behalf, that it is equivalent to CEFR B2 in all 4 components of reading, writing, speaking and listening and has been accepted as proof of English language proficiency. You may also choose to present a UKVI recognised test.

The qualifications listed on this page have been assessed and confirmed as equivalent to the minimum of CEFR B2 for the 4 components of reading, writing, speaking and listening and are acceptable as proof of English language proficiency.

Recognised English-Speaking Countries

If you are a national and long term resident of a recognised English speaking country, you may not be required to demonstrate proficiency in English.  You may have to evidence either secondary or senior schooling within that country which is comparable to UK GCSE standard.  If you cannot evidence schooling, we will assess your residency within that country on a case by case basis.
