Overview

This scholarship celebrates the life and legacy of Lynne Smith, a visionary entrepreneur whose determination, generosity and compassion made a lasting impact on communities across the North East of Scotland. Lynne was a proud Honorary Graduate of Robert Gordon University (RGU) and a highly respected and much-loved member of the local community.

Through her leadership of Central Coaches and her dedicated support of youth charities, Lynne created opportunities for countless young people to achieve their potential. She firmly believed that every young person, regardless of their circumstances, deserved the chance to succeed, and she worked tirelessly to turn that belief into reality. 

Established in her memory, this scholarship seeks to continue Lynne's legacy by removing financial barriers to higher education, creating opportunities, and helping talented young people build brighter futures. 

One scholarship will be awarded an undergraduate student who has accepted an offer to study at Robert Gordon University and can demonstrate financial need, academic achievement, motivation and ambition.

The successful recipient will receive:

  • £2,500 per year for the duration of their four-year undergraduate degree
  • One year of free accommodation
  • A placement opportunity with Central Coaches, providing valuable industry experience and professional development

Through this scholarship, Lynne's commitment to supporting and empowering young people will continue to make a difference for generations to come.

Other Requirements

To be eligible for consideration for this scholarship, students must:

  • be Scottish domiciled and classified as a ‘home fees student’,
  • have not already obtained a first degree,
  • meet RGU’s widening access criteria or have a household income of less than £33,999.
