Applicants must be employed within NHS Scotland and have an unconditional offer for the full MSc Strategic Service Planning and Delivery in Health and Social Care.

You may be employed by an NHS Board, an Integrated Joint Board, a Health and Social Care Partnership or NHS Facilities Scotland.

How to Apply

Application process

Applicants should first apply to the MSc Strategic Service Planning and Delivery in Health and Social Care at RGU:

If you are offered an unconditional place, you can then submit your scholarship application, along with a short statement.

Applicants are required to write a short statement (no more than 1000 words) that details:

1. Why you are applying for the Scholarship
2. How you will benefit from the opportunities that being awarded the Scholarship will provide
3. How NHS Scotland (or specifically your NHS Board) will benefit from you undertaking the MSc
4. The challenges you perceive from balancing work/life/study and planned strategies to manage these challenges.

Statements should be submitted in Word or PDF format to Denise Penny by emailing healthsciences@rgu.ac.uk. There are still some scholarships available and applications will be considered on a first come, first served basis until the final deadline of  Monday 2 December 2024 at 17:00.

Award Criteria

The School’s award panel will meet after the closing date to consider all eligible scholarship applications received by the due date.

The School will assess all applications against the criteria:

• Evidence of understanding of the role and importance of Strategic Service Planning and Delivery in your area of work/NHS Board
• Consideration of how the student will utilise the knowledge gained from this opportunity to the benefit of their NHS Board/NHS Scotland
• Identification of challenges associated with balancing work/life/study and planned strategies to manage these challenges.

In the event that two applications are scored identically and only one award is available, the panel will award the scholarship to the first application received, using the date of receipt in the University as the relevant date.

• No late applications will be accepted.
• Applications must be complete. Applications that are incomplete and/or illegible will be considered invalid.
• You may only apply for an award once. Multiple applications will not be considered.
• Scholarships will be distributed across NHS Board areas.

Notification and Acceptance

Decisions will be announced by Friday 15 December 2023.

Successful applicants will be informed in the first instance by email.

Applicants will be required to respond by email to accept the offer. Failure to accept the offer within 3 weeks will lead to the Scholarship offer being withdrawn and offered to an alternative applicant.

Terms and Conditions

All Scholarships are awarded in the form of a discount on fees paid.

A Scholarship will be withdrawn if:

• You fail to accept the offer within the time permitted.
• Your Scholarship or University application is found to contain incomplete or inaccurate information.
• You are found to have committed academic misconduct once enrolled at the University.
• You are found to have committed non-academic misconduct once enrolled at the University.
• If you fail module summative assessments twice and are ‘failed course discontinued’.
• You defer your offer of a place, withdraw from the University or are suspended or withdrawn from the University.
• You no longer work for the NHS.

In the event that a scholarship is withdrawn the student will be responsible for paying any outstanding fees and any future fees if they continue on the course.

Appeals Process

All decisions on Scholarship applications will be made by the School’s Scholarship Panel. All decisions are final. The School will not provide feedback nor enter into further correspondence with unsuccessful applicants regarding their Scholarship application. There are no grounds for appeal against an unsuccessful application with one exception:

• Where there is evidence of alleged improper conduct or irregular procedure during the scholarship awards process.

If you wish to appeal on this ground, you should write to the Dean of School  in the first instance, outlining your evidence of alleged improper conduct or irregular procedure during the awards process. The Dean of School will respond to you within 20 working days.
