Giacomo Zurletti

Sir Ian Wood Building

BSc (Hons) Sports Coaching student.

What subject are you currently studying/did you most recently study at university? What persuaded you to choose this option?

I am currently studying BSc (Hons) Sport Coaching – I have always been interested in sport and the practical aspect of it, and have always wanted to do a course that provided me the opportunity to increase my coaching skills by applying theories into practice.

What course did you study at college, and which college did you attend?

I studied Sport Coaching and Developing Sport at Perth College UHI.

What did you find easy and what did you find difficult about making the transition from college to university?

The easy part for me was getting used to the different services provided by RGU, including the Virtual Learning Environment, Study Skills, and the library.

The difficult part was raising my level of academic competence, including my writing, and referencing.

WHY RGU? WHAT WAS IT THAT ATTRACTED YOU TO THE UNIVERSITY?

RGU was one of my top options after college, as the BSc (Hons) Sport Coaching course was recommended by my college lecturers.

I got attracted by the university lecturer’s professionalism in organising the interview for the course, as well as other meetings about student services – they really showed interest in making the student experience as good as possible.

HOW DID RGU SUPPORT YOU IN YOUR JOURNEY? DID YOU USE ANY OF THE SUPPORT SERVICES AVAILABLE TO YOU?

RGU provides so many support services that work really well. The services surrounding Study Skills really helped during my first year here.

How has RGU helped you achieve your goals?

RGU has helped develop my skills as a coach and provided me with placement opportunities that were helpful as it allowed me to understand the coaching industry. They supported me on my path to becoming a better coach, as well as gaining other qualifications such as the Coach Parker qualification.
