Kirsty Purcell
Physiotherapy student and middle/long distance Athletics competitor.
What is your sport and position?
Athletics - middle/long distance.
What made you pick your sport?
I tried a lot of different sports as a child, I did primary school cross country races and just enjoyed it so kept signing up to races.
If you didn’t do your sport, what would you do and why?
Football - I played until I went to uni but decided to focus more on running.
Why did you choose to study at RGU?
The Physio course is very good and I wanted to live closer to home.
How do you think the sport scholar program will help you progress as a student athlete?
I think it will help me manage sporting and academic commitments better so I can do both to the best of my ability.
What is your greatest sporting achievement?
Competing in a Scotland vest at the Liverpool cross country.
Who is your sporting role model and why?
Laura Muir - she is very hardworking and humble. She was a student vet while still managing to perform at a high level.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Working as a physio and still training and competing in athletics.
