Harley Keith
International Business Management and Athletics Hammer Thrower from Aberdeen, Scotland.
What is your sport and position?
Athletics: Hammer throw.
What made you pick your sport?
I started athletics at a young age doing various events then once I started throwing, I loved it instantly!
If you didn’t do your sport, what would you do and why?
I would do hyrox as it seems very fun and challenging!
Why did you choose to study at RGU?
For my course (International Business Management) RGU offers a semester of study abroad and a year of placement, which are great opportunities and no other university in Scotland offered this.
How do you think the sport scholar program will help you progress as a student athlete?
The scholar program allows for me to have academic flexibility which makes balancing sport and university much easier.
What is your greatest sporting achievement?
I’ve won silver medals at Scottish nationals, universities and school’s championships. I was selected to be a member and compete for Glasgow Jaguars.
Who is your sporting role model and why?
Camryn Rogers as she is an incredible thrower who is an Olympic and world champion who works extremely hard.
What’s the most valuable lesson you’ve learnt from your sport?
Hammer throw teaches me to be resilient and to trust the process as it takes a lot of patience, time and dedication to throw hammer well.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Once I complete my bachelor’s and master’s degree, I hope to gain a graduate apprenticeship in a firm relevant to my degree and have the chance to work internationally.
Favourite sporting memory?
Scottish University Championships 2025 as it was my first time at the competition and I won silver and threw a personal best, and we had really fun celebrations after!
