Meet our Sports Scholars
Ella Chalmers
Nutrition and Dietetics student and Triathlete from Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
What is your sport and position?
Triathlon.
What made you pick your sport?
I started swimming, then running separately, I then completed a biathlon/aquathon. When I was 11 my dad did his first triathlon so that inspired me to start triathlons.
If you didn’t do your sport, what would you do and why?
I would be the pre-triathlon nail tech.
Why did you choose to study at RGU?
I wanted to study something related to nutrition/health and dietetics was an option so I decided to choose that.
How do you think the sport scholar program will help you progress as a student athlete?
It will allow me to focus on training and uni at the same time while keeping the same training hours.
What is your greatest sporting achievement?
Being a reserve for the Youth Commonwealth Games 2023
Who is your sporting role model and why?
Beth Potter as she is also Scottish and she came third at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
What’s the most valuable lesson you’ve learnt from your sport?
Never give up, not every race or training session will go to plan, it doesn’t mean you aren’t improving
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Hopefully working as a sport dietitian supporting triathletes and still competing to the best of my ability
Favourite sporting memory?
School games national finals 2022 - competing in in the mixed team relay and coming 3rd.
