James Boddie
Criminology student and Swimmer.
What is your sport and position?
Swimming.
What made you pick your sport?
I tried competing after doing swimming lessons and have been swimming ever since.
If you didn’t do your sport, what would you do and why?
Cycling - I enjoyed it a lot in lockdown.
Why did you choose to study at RGU?
My siblings suggested studying at RGU after studying here themselves.
What is your greatest sporting achievement?
Placing 6th in the 800Freestyle at the aquatics GB next generation championships for 17–18-year-olds (third fastest 18-year-old).
Who is your sporting role model and why?
Duncan Scott would have to be my biggest role model from his range of success and his determination.
What’s the most valuable lesson you’ve learnt from your sport?
Just because someone is faster than you now doesn’t mean they always will be.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Competing for Scotland at commonwealth level or for GB at world/Olympic level.
Favourite sporting memory?
Winning both the 200freestyle and 400 Individual Medley on the same night at Scottish National Age Groups in front of family.
