Preparing for your return

The RGU SPORT team have been working hard, getting ready to welcome you all back. Our main priority is the wellbeing, health and safety of our staff, members and users.

When will RGU SPORT reopen?

RGU SPORT reopened on Monday 14 September as part of Robert Gordon University phased return to campus.

RGU SPORT will be reopening gradually, and in a measured and safe way to protect our staff, members and users. Find out our new opening hours:

Phased Reopening

We are reopening in phases to ensure the safety to our staff and users.

In our initial reopening phase, you will have access to the gym zones, strength and conditioning zone and group exercise classes. 

INDICATIVE DATES OF OUR FURTHER REOPENING PHASES:

  • Swimming pool - from week commencing 28 September 2020
  • Sports hall - from week commencing 26 October 2020
  • Climbing & bouldering - from week commencing 2 November 2020

Please note the changing rooms are currently only available for swimming pool users. We kindly ask that pool users keep their time within the changing areas to a minimum to allow for changeovers and cleaning routines to be carried out.


Welcome If Policy

By entering RGU SPORT, you are agreeing to our “welcome if” policy. What this means is that you are welcome if you agree to:

  • Stay at home if you are feeling unwell and only enter RGU SPORT if you and your household have no symptoms of Coronavirus.
  • Follow our guidance around hand washing and sanitising.
  • Commit to wiping down all equipment you use before and after each use.
  • Comply with social distancing guidance.

For Your Safety

The facility will look a bit different when you come back, and there will be new procedures in place to ensure your safety.

PERSONAL ITEMS

Please arrive exercise-ready and keep all personal items to a minimum as the changing rooms will be closed for the time being.

ONE-WAY SYSTEMS

Clear signage and one-way systems will be in place highlighting where to enter and exit the building and each space within the facility.

CAPACITY

Restrictions on capacities will be in place which will reduce the number of people in certain areas, minimising congestion and helping you to comply with social distancing practices.

Face Coverings

Face coverings must be worn at all times when using RGU SPORT, but may be removed during exercise.

EQUIPMENT SPACING

The equipment has been rearranged or marked out of use to conform to social distancing measures. Floor markings have been measured out so you can keep your distance during your favourite group exercise classes.

BOOKING SYSTEM

An online booking system will be in operation to control usage levels and keep you safe while you start your exercise routines again. You must pre-book all your sessions/classes prior to entering the facility.

 

Cleanliness & Hygiene

Extensive and increased cleaning practices will be in place which uses high quality cleaning chemicals effective against COVID-19. The double cleaning approach, as per government guidelines, will be in place to ensure all areas are cleaned and sanitised thoroughly.

The gyms will be regularly cleaned throughout every session and subjected to a deep clean during scheduled closure slots during the day.

Hand Sanitising Stations

You will find hand sanitising stations located throughout the facility. Please ensure you use the hand sanitiser upon entering and exiting each exercise zone and upon leaving the building. Please also regularly wash your hands throughout your time within the facility.

Cleaning Stations

Cleaning stations will be conveniently placed throughout the facility for you to wipe-clean your kit before and after each use.
