RGU SPORT offer a number of courses in professional qualifications such as NPLQ (Gen 10) & first aid. If you're looking to try something new, why not try our Learn to Climb courses?

National Pool Lifeguard Qualification

RGU SPORT offers National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) and integrated National Pool Lifeguard courses throughout the year.

These Royal Lifesaving Society (RLSS UK) courses are widely recognised across UK and internationally, having trained over 90,000 pool lifeguards, and are a great starting point for anyone looking to start their career or gain part time work in the leisure industry.

Course Dates

The course leads candidates through three elements; lifeguard theory, first aid and CPR (including AED) and pool rescue techniques, over 37.5 hours.

Each day must be attended in full by all candidates. Candidates must be a minimum of 16 years old on the day of assessment and must complete a swim test prior to the start of the course.

First Aid

RGU SPORT offers three day First Aid at Work (FAW), one day Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) courses throughout the year.

These Royal Lifesaving Society (RLSS UK) courses are widely recognised across UK and internationally and support employers and employees to comply with HSE’s first aid at work regulations.

A three day FAW course is £165 per candidate, with a discounted rate of £150 available to RGU students and staff. The one day EFAW is £75 per candidate.

Learn to Climb

Courses on our indoor rock climbing wall are available for both adults and children. They cover the basics from tying in and belaying to climbing technique and bouldering, working towards an assessment before you can climb unsupervised (adults only).
