 PhD Scholarship – Community Pharmacy Scotland Sponsored (2022 – 25)

Development opportunity for pharmacists working in Scotland with a focus on community pharmacy.

This opportunity is designed to strengthen future pharmacy research. This CPS sponsored PhD scholarship is designed to support the development of individuals and community pharmacy services in Scotland. This post will provide the opportunity to develop independent research skills applied to community pharmacy services through completion of a research project. The post is an excellent opportunity, particularly for an early careers GPhC registered pharmacist in, or who has knowledge of, community practice to develop research skills and professional leadership through the development of evidence-based practice, whilst maintaining links to current service delivery.

PhD Scholarship - Modelling and Analysis of Defects in Fibre-Reinforced Polymer (FRP) Pipelines for Hydrogen Transport

PhD Scholarship - Artificial Nervous System for a Quadruped Robot 

This project aims to develop a neural network for a quadruped robot. The neural network will allow the robot to move in different directions (forward, backward and rotational movements) and to negotiate the environment (altering its movement characteristics such as gait in response to different stimuli).

PhD Scholarship - Development of a novel cuffless blood pressure monitoring sensor and validation against the volume clamp method

The objectives of this study are: (i) develop a novel wearable sensor that can simultaneously measure the arterial flow and pressure waveforms (ii) measure the pulse wave velocity (PWV) by collocation of flow and pressure sensor and validation against volume clamp method and lastly (iii) investigate the correlation between normalised augmentation index to BP parameter for healthy and hypertensive cohorts.

PhD Scholarship - Machining of additive manufactured titanium alloys for assembly qualification and process energy optimisation

The aim of this project is to produce titanium parts by AM and machine them to qualify for assembly while keeping energy consumption to a minimum. Project will include experimentation, statistical analysis and process simulation.

PhD Scholarship - Development of kinetic-theory based constitutive models for eulerian-eulerian modelling of cohesive granular flows

The objective of the study is to identify the clustering mechanisms and the proposed project will focus on simulations of gas-particle flows spanning a range of Reynolds and particle Stokes numbers.
