Robert Gordon University (RGU), named Higher Education Institution of the Year 2026, has today announced a new partnership with P&J Live that will give graduating students from Gray’s School of Art a powerful platform to launch their careers.

Launching to coincide with graduation week, the collaboration will see work by students and newly graduating artists exhibited and sold at the North East’s largest live events venue - connecting award-winning talent directly with industry audiences, employers and buyers.

The initiative brings to life RGU’s commitment to delivering real-world outcomes, reinforcing its position as top in Scotland for Graduate Prospects – on track (Complete University Guide 2027) and demonstrating how graduates move seamlessly from university into professional practice.

A rotating collection of artwork will be showcased throughout P&J Live’s International Conference Centre, reaching thousands of visitors and providing graduates with immediate commercial exposure at a pivotal point in their careers.

For students completing their studies this week, the partnership represents more than a celebration of achievement – it’s a clear step forward into industry, reflecting RGU’s career-focused approach and strong connections to employers and the regional economy.

Supporting graduate futures through industry connection

The partnership is grounded in a shared commitment to supporting emerging talent and strengthening the creative economy in the North East, showcasing how universities and industry can collaborate to create meaningful career pathways.

By positioning graduates in a high-profile, commercial setting from day one, the initiative demonstrates how RGU equips students with the skills, confidence and professional opportunities needed to succeed beyond graduation.

Rob Wicks, Managing Director at P&J Live, said: "On a recent visit to other conference venues operated by Legends Global in Los Angeles and Denver, it was apparent to me how well they had integrated art into their environments, and so I was keen to see if we could replicate that here in Aberdeen. Gray’s School of Art was the natural partner, and they recognise that we can provide a high-profile platform for students and graduates to share their work with the thousands of people who visit the venue each year. This collaboration brings creativity into our conference spaces while supporting the next generation of artists as they begin their careers. With graduates celebrating their achievements here this week, it makes this partnership even more special."

Sally Reaper, Director of Look Again at Gray’s School of Art, RGU, said: “Graduation marks both an ending and a beginning for our students, and this partnership ensures that momentum carries forward. By launching at this pivotal moment, we’re giving our graduates an immediate platform to share their work, connect with audiences and take confident steps into their professional careers. It’s a brilliant reflection of the creativity, resilience and ambition that define Gray’s School of Art.”

From Graduation to career impact

Artists featured in the inaugural showcase represent a diverse range of disciplines and creative approaches, reflecting the strength and breadth of talent emerging from Gray’s School of Art.

The exhibition will run year-round, with collections rotating every six months - ensuring ongoing opportunities for future graduates and reinforcing RGU’s role as a consistent pipeline of skilled, work-ready creative talent.

This initiative is part of RGU’s wider focus on employability, industry collaboration and real-world learning - key factors in its recognition as both University of the Year 2026 and a national leader in graduate outcomes.

Caps Off. Futures Forward: from graduation and beyond

By aligning directly with graduation week, the partnership brings the university’s campaign message - “Caps Off. Futures Forward.” - to life, showing how RGU graduates don’t just celebrate success, but step immediately into opportunity, careers and impact.
