RGU: Scotland’s rising University for career success

Robert Gordon University (RGU) has climbed to third place in Scotland for career prospects, according to The Guardian University Guide 2026 (published Saturday 13 September).

RGU’s position has shot up eighteen places to break into the top 20 in the UK, cementing its status as a national leader in career-focused education.  

The university is now fourteenth in the UK for career prospects, which reflects the university’s commitment to preparing students for the world of work through career-focused degrees and strong industry links. 

Principal and Vice-Chancellor Steve Olivier said the results show how RGU is reshaping the role of modern universities: “RGU is rightly known for its graduate employability and these latest rankings illustrate why. We are in the top 20 in the UK for graduate career success which is both outstanding and a testament to our ambition to be the UK’s leading work-integrated university by 2030.” 

Subject areas at RGU performed strongly in the new Guide, with RGU positioned best in the UK for career prospects in: 

  • Nursing  
  • Midwifery 
  • Mental Health Nursing 
  • Fine Art

And best in Scotland for career prospects in:

  • Health professions  
  • Pharmacy and Pharmacology  
  • Hospitality, Event Management and Tourism  
  • Media and Film Studies 

Renowned for its excellence in Physiotherapy, the University also secured its top spot as first in the UK for Physiotherapy in the Guide’s subject rankings.
