Robert Gordon University (RGU) has become the first university in Scotland to offer a project management degree that is recognised as a route to chartered status.

This means that alumni and students completing the MSc Project Management (including Post-graduate Diploma (PgDip) degree, are now eligible to achieve Chartered Project Professional (ChPP) status, the professional benchmark from Association for Project Management (APM), the chartered membership organisation for the project management profession.

ChPP status enables those who meet the required standard to demonstrate a defined level of technical knowledge, professional practice and ethical behaviour within the project profession.

Those completing RGU’s Project Management degree, can now be considered for ChPP status against ‘route one’ (for those who have a recognised assessment for technical knowledge). They will no longer be required to sit the technical assessments to achieve ChPP status and will only be assessed on the professional practice element.

Jackie Martin, Director of Education & Lifelong Learning at APM said “APM has a long-standing relationship with RGU and we are delighted that as well as being APM accredited, its Project Management degree is now recognised as a route to chartered status.   This will really help pave the way for those completing the course to achieve the much - coveted chartered status.

There are many benefits to achieving ChPP, including gaining personal and external recognition of a high standard, promoting a high standard of competence and demonstrating to employers your ability to operate in a complex project environment.”

RGU’s Project Management degree has multiple study options including campus and online learning. It is designed to meet the growing industry demand for project management professionals across a range of sectors including engineering, healthcare and energy and is developed in conjunction with diverse industry practitioners and professional bodies including APM.
