Rosie Anderson - MSc Journalism
Rosie Anderson believes the skills and experiences she acquired while at Robert Gordon University (RGU) will stand her in good stead after completing MSc Journalism.

The 29-year-old, who is from Dalkeith, successfully balanced her studies with wedding planning and a part time work.

Rosie chose to study at RGU due to its strong industry links and good record of graduate employability with a 97% of those moving into jobs once completing their studies.

She said: “I wanted to study somewhere that had a good reputation for its graduates finding employment.

“I chose to study the Journalism postgraduate course as it had a good mix of practical learning, classroom teaching and industry connections. I wanted to study Journalism as I enjoy learning about other people, and how the big and small events impact everyone in our society.

“I think I have gained confidence in my own abilities first and foremost. I also have a great deal of practical experience and a much better digital skillset to take into whatever role I choose next.”

Following the completion of her studies, Rosie has already gained some experience in the marketing and publishing sectors, and is keen to find employment in the central belt.

Looking back at her time at RGU, she said it was great experience and praised the support from the teaching staff.

Rosie said: “I really enjoyed the encouragement from lecturers to reach outside of my comfort zone and felt supported in making the most of my time at RGU. I really enjoyed the freedom to choose the direction of my main thesis, while always having the support of academic staff to guide me and make the best of the time and resources.

“Thanks to my time at RGU I have a broader skillset and a much better understanding of how the roles of journalists and those working in broadcasting work and evolve over time.

“I got married the week after I handed in my final research project. I spent this year studying, working and wedding planning. It has been hard work, a challenging balancing act, but ultimately, an overall incredibly rewarding experience.”
