Kaveh Nejad - BSc (Hons) Computer Science

Kavek Najad graduates at P&J
Kaveh Nejad has moved straight into the world of work with the firm he was on placement with after completing his BSc (Hons) Computer Science course.

The 22-year-old from Greece decided to study at Robert Gordon University (RGU) because of the modern campus and that teaching was aligned with skills he would need.

Being able to be creative throughout the duration of the four-year course was another exciting aspect for Kaveh.

He said: “I came to RGU because I found the listed subjects very interesting and saw how they would help in my field. I also really liked the modern campus and the teaching focused around practical and real-world skills.

“I really liked the idea of creating systems to solve and automate small parts of my life, and computing skills gave me the opportunity to do this. Also, while the degree is very sought after by companies, it is also varied enough to allow you to work in several distinct fields. The main aspect of my degree that I enjoyed was that every semester I would have the opportunity to create something new. Generally, the coursework guidelines were specific, but we often also got more creative freedom to decide what to create.”

Kaveh Nejad works as a software developer for Glasgow-based technology firm Arbnco having been there on placement, worked for the company part time and now has a full-time role.

He feels his time at the University was vital as it helped him moved into software development and also helped him learn important skills.

Kaveh added: “I am now continuing to work at the company in which I did my placement year. I learned a lot from doing my placement at this company, and from working part time during Uni. And they offered me a full-time position straight out of university.

“RGU enabled me to learn a lot about the field that I am most interested in while also allowing me to learn about other fields that are often connected, such as AI, ML, data manipulation, databases, front end code and many more.”

The BSc (Hons) Computer Science degree at RGU provides students with the knowledge and skills to design and implement state-of-the-art software systems to solve the most challenging problems posed by industry. It is second in Scotland for student satisfaction in the Complete University Guide 2025.
