Shaping Just Futures will provide an international platform for critical engagement with the systems and structures that shape care, accountability and human wellbeing in contemporary societies.
In a context of rapid social, technological, environmental and economic change, the conference will examine how institutions, professions and communities can respond effectively to complexity, inequality and evolving public expectations.

The School of Law and Social Sciences at Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen invites submissions for its international conference, Shaping Just Futures: Care, Accountability and Human Wellbeing in a Changing World, to be held on 25 - 26 February 2027 in a hybrid format.

The conference invites contributions that engage with safeguarding and protection, mental health and resilience, legal rights and responsibilities, ethical decision making, trauma informed practice, access to justice, environmental concerns, climate change, pedagogy and the reform of public institutions. Submissions are welcome from researchers, practitioners and policy leaders seeking to contribute evidence informed and globally relevant perspectives.
The conference programme is aligned with the University’s core research focus areas: Inclusive and Creative Societies, Health and Wellbeing, Environment and Energy, Living in a Digital World, and Pedagogy. Contributions will advance Inclusive and Creative Societies through work on equity, participation and social transformation. They will strengthen Health and Wellbeing by addressing mental health, vulnerability and systems of care. They will engage with Environment and Energy through analysis of sustainability, climate justice and community resilience. They will examine Living in a Digital World by exploring digital governance, technological change and emerging forms of risk and accountability. They will contribute to Pedagogy by considering how education and professional learning can prepare current and future leaders to build fair and responsive institutions.
