Discover how analytical science is shaping real-world industry through an afternoon of expert speakers, giving insight for students, scientists, researchers, industry professionals, and the general public.

The Analytical Symposium 2026 brings together experts from across the analytical science community to share how analytical techniques, expertise and innovation are being applied to real-world challenges.

Hosted by the School of Pharmacy, Applied Science, and Public Health, the symposium is designed to connect academic learning with working in industry and will provide an opportunity to hear directly from scientists working across a range of disciplines and sectors. It will be particularly relevant to students and early-career scientists interested in analytical, forensic and pharmaceutical science careers.

Our invited speakers will offer their own perspectives on analytical science, drawing on their experience, specialist areas and professional practice. Together, the talks will demonstrate the breadth of the discipline, and the important role analytical scientists play in generating reliable evidence, solving problems and supporting scientific decision-making.

The extended refreshment break provides time to continue conversations away from the formal presentations, meet other attendees and speakers, and make connections across academic and professional communities.

Whether you are considering a career in analytical science, already working within the field, or simply interested in how analytical science supports modern industry and research, the symposium offers an opportunity to broaden your understanding of where the discipline can take you and the variety of work being undertaken by analytical scientists.

The event is made possible through the generous support of a benefactor, enabling us to bring together speakers and attendees to celebrate analytical science and strengthen links between education, research and professional practice.
