We are proud be working in aid of Erskine Veterans Charity - Scotland's leading provider of care for ex-service men and woman and their spouses, offering the best possible care and community support for their future. Erskine provide support in a multitude of ways for those living with complex medical needs, mental health needs, physical disabilities and neurological conditions such as dementia.
The site we are working with is Erskine Veterans Activity Centre North in Forres, in the North-East of Scotland. We are proud to have the responsibility of marking Erskine's 110th and as a team, we aim to support the charity by; fundraising, extending the reach to more veterans, raising awareness and widening the audience in and around Aberdeen. This will all contribute to the continuing development of vital support for the Activity Centre North in Forres. The Centre is free for the veterans and relies on 100% donations to run! New projects taking place in the Activity Centre over the next following months include:
- Workshop Development - providing a space for woodwork, metalwork and pottery classes. A safe environment with hands-on work, which many veterans find beneficial to help with their PTSD
- 'Our Garden Project' - providing an outdoor space, gardening opportunities and a seating area for veterans to relax, reflect and socialise
- Kitchen Refurbishment - allowing healthy nutritious meals to be prepared on-site for the veterans - vital for those who may not cook at home or struggle to afford healthy food.
At The Makers’ Exchange you can hear first-hand from veterans and staff from EVAC North and join in some fundraising activities!
