Recreational Activities

Recreational activities are fun activities which combine physical activity and socialising together to provide a fun and inclusive environment to all participants that attend.

What are Recreational Activities?

It's a great chance to enhance your physical social and mental wellbeing as well as being able to meet new people.

Our recreational activities are open to all community participants, staff and students and are open to all abilities.

Recreational badminton sessions

  • Takes place every Tuesday evening from 17:00 – 18:00.
  • Relaxed fun sessions which are suitable for all ability levels.
  • Led by one of the RGU SPORT staff team and equipment is provided where needed.
  • £3 per session and this can be paid at reception on entry.
  • Please meet at the RGU SPORT reception desk to sign up and pay, a member of staff will then meet you to take you down to the courts.

Futsal

  • Futsal is the FIFA recognised form of small – sided indoor football. See the game in action:

  • Fun training sessions take place every Tuesday evening from 18:00 – 19:00.
  • For anyone looking to play more competitively, league games will take place on Wednesday evenings.

Pickle Ball Sessions

Brand new for 2024! Working in partnership with Cults Lawn Tennis Club.

  • Fun Coach led sessions for all students, staff and community attendees, which will teach you all the rules and provide the opportunity to play and socialise with others.
  • Every Wednesday, starting 24 January. £3.50 per session.
  • Session times are 10:15 - 11:15 and 11:15 - 12:15.
  • Sessions bookable online at Welcome to RGU SPORT - Leisure Hub or by calling us on 01224 263666.
  • Courts will be bookable out with these sessions and can be booked through the above link too.

RGU Campus Walks

Great way to enhance your mental, physical and social wellbeing on our regular Campus walks led by an RGU SPORT member of staff.

  • Each Wednesday starting from 10 January.
  • Meet at RGU SPORT reception.
  • Open to all students, staff and community members.

Do I have to take part every week?

No, participants don’t have to attend every session. Please just sign up and come along to the sessions that suit you. Where possible, please book in advance so that you don’t miss out.
