Professional Contexts in Advancing Practice
This module explores the professional strategic, cultural and organisational contexts involved with advancing professional practice. Within the areas of complexity and diversity in healthcare, students explore knowledge, evidence and policy agendas in their area of practice, encompassing regulatory, legal and credentialing requirements. Learning Methods
This module runs over 12 weeks. It is delivered online for 6 weeks, followed by 4 weeks of preparation of the academic summative assessment. This module is delivered online through the University's Virtual Learning Environment, CampusMoodle.
Independent Study
You are expected to undertake approximately 15 hours per week of independent study.
Assessment
Assessment is a written assignment (2500 words) and supporting poster (500 words).
Academic Support
The Inclusion Centre advises and supports students who disclose a sensory or mobility impairment, chronic medical condition, mental health issue, dyslexia and other specific learning differences. Applicants are encouraged to arrange a pre-entry visit to discuss any concerns and to view the facilities.
Study Skills Support
The Study Support Team provides training and support to all students in:
- Academic writing
- Study skills (note taking, exam techniques, time management, presentation)
- Maths and statistics
- English language
- Information technology support
Credit from this module may contribute to the MSc Advancing Practice (Nursing) or RGUflex.
This module is suitable for registered nurses, midwives and health and social care professionals. Normally, applicants are expected to be able to demonstrate degree level study; however, if this is not the case, interested individuals are encouraged to make contact and discuss their circumstances.
Newly Qualified Nurses who have successfully gained a place on the in NHS Grampian PG Certificate of Advancing Nursing Practice may be funded to complete this module.
