Short Course - 15 Credits at SCQF level 11 | Commercial Practice for the Energy Sector

This module will cover the areas of value assurance and protection, corporate governance and shareholder value, fraud awareness, competition law and professional practice, conduct and duty of care, due diligence, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), ethics, the Bribery Act and gifts and hospitality.
- Synthesis and evaluation of a range of corporate governance controls in order to describe and advise on business impact
- Critical analysis and evaluation of the role and impact of Corporate Social Responsibility policies and actions in the Energy Sector
Proposal and generation of appropriate measurement techniques for the assessment of performance in relation to specific aspects of corporate governance and value assurance.

Learning will take place through the University online virtual learning environment (VLE), Campus Moodle, with a mix of online lectures, tutorials and self-guided study. Each topic within the Module will have a number of obligatory activities aimed at emphasising the learning. You are also required to contribute to a number of discussion forums on particular subject matter and case studies.
Assessment
Students are formally assessed by set exercises.
Academic Support

Relevant industry experience and/or a good honours degree.
