A Short Course Extra opportunity to spend 4 days learning linocut printmaking with Ade Adesina.

This course is suitable for beginners and offers an introduction to linocut techniques and process.

A linocut printmaking course. Working on lino blocks, you will be experimenting and developing new skills in cutting lino.

Day 1

  • Morning: An hour talk on linocut printmaking technique with some samples of Ade Adesina's work and inspiration. Introduction of samples of work showing different linocut techniques.
  • Demonstration: Cutting and printing of a sample linocut block.
  • Afternoon: Opportunity for you to familiarise yourself with the tools and a trial of an A5 lino block.
Day 2
  • Morning: Printing of trial A5 lino blocks.
  • Develop an idea for an A4 lino block.
  • Afternoon: Cutting and printing of A4 lino block.

 

Day 3

  • Morning: Demonstration of different techniques on how to get various widths, texture, depth and reduction process etc.
  • Afternoon: Drawing up an A4 lino block for final project

Day 4

  • Cutting and printing of final project.
 
Detailed module information
Students are taught by specialist staff who will offer practical advice and instruction together with personal encouragement in discovering individual creative skills. Students will receive general instruction and one-to-one tuition tailored to suit their personal level of experience and ability.

A complete health and safety induction will take place on commencement of the course.

Print workshop facilities, rollers and pallet knives will be provided as will paper, ink, newsprint and lino. You should bring a current sketchbook with you to use for primary source material. You are advised to wear old clothing and an apron.

This course is not formally assessed.

All students are required to be at least 16 years of age on the commencement of course excluding the Young Artist programmes.

A refund is only applicable where there has been illness with a medical certificate to support it.

Located within the Gray’s building, the Art Materials Shop stocks a wide range of specialist materials, papers and equipment for all kinds of creative ventures. Open to all, both student and non-student, with very competitive prices, the staff are on hand and happy to help. Open between 9am-3.30pm Monday to Friday and a selection of dates over each semester to accommodate the Short Course students.

Staff appreciate many Short Course students are busy through the day, so they are happy to take phone orders that can be collected from reception at a later/more convenient time for students.
