Join us for an exclusive opportunity try this yourself. Spend two days learning this ancient/highly specialised process from two highly experienced Ceramicists.
This course will teach the fundamentals of the Raku firing process. You will have the opportunity to make and decorate pieces before being guided through your first Raku firing. The next day, you will be able to take what they have learned and apply it to a piece for a second raku firing.
All work will be finished by the end of the course and you can take home and enjoy the work you have created the same day! Due to the complicated and specialised nature of the course, 2 experienced professionals are required to deliver this course.
Clothing: the class will be held mainly outside the ceramics workshops so you will need to wear sturdy footwear and have a warm jacket scarf and hat in case the weather is cold. Older clothes are recommended as Raku can be a messy process.
Crank and Raku glaze provided.
Methods of delivery include: demonstrations, individual/group discussion and studio-based practice.
You are taught by specialist staff who will offer practical advice and instruction together with personal encouragement in discovering individual creative skills. You will receive general instruction and one-to-one tuition tailored to suit your personal level of experience and ability.
A complete health and safety induction will take place on commencement of the course.
This course is not formally assessed.
