The focus at Robert Gordon University is on applied research. An integral part of our purpose is to build a research base of staff and students who undertake highly relevant leading-edge research that advances knowledge and provides tangible benefits to the wider economy and society.

RGU has world class researchers in allied health professions, computer science, engineering, architecture, accounting and finance, business and management, library and information management, and art and design.

Research Institutes

Providing the focus for delivery of research and knowledge transfer and to further develop the excellent research that was identified in REF2014.

Each research institute hosts a graduate school to engender a supportive research community, providing an environment conducive to high quality student experience and achievement.

    A PhD student from RGU is working with Bayelsa State Government in Nigeria to investigate the best way to establish a viable offshore renewable energy industry in the country.
