The University will open its doors to potential students and their friends and families during Open Days on Wednesday 6 October and Saturday 6 November 2010.
The October event will be held from 10am until 3pm at both the Garthdee and city centre campuses. The second of the two Open Days will take place exactly one month later, on 6 November 2010, from 11am to 3pm.
The 2010 Open Days introduce a new format, enabling visitors to speak to representatives from across the University in one place at one time, courtesy of the new ‘Information Fairs’ which will be held in both campuses.
The Information Fairs will be held at RGU:Union on Schoolhill at the city’s centre, and on University Street (below RGU:SPORT) at the Garthdee campus. They will host a wide range of course-specific stands representing each of the three Faculties - Health and Social Care, Design and Technology and Aberdeen Business School.
Representatives from the support departments at the University will also be on hand to discuss any questions about how to apply, the costs of going to university, where to stay and adapting to student life. There will also be tours of the student accommodation at Woolmanhill, as well as RGU: SPORT, the University's £10 million sports centre.
Hands-on activities will take place at each of the schools across both campuses including: green-screen, programming iphone apps and computer controlled robot workshops at the School of Computing; the FF1600 racing car in the School of Engineering; critical care scenario demonstrations at the School of Nursing and Midwifery; tours of the Crime and Forensic labs at the School of Pharmacy and Life Sciences.
Tours at both campuses will take place regularly throughout the day. Student ambassadors will be on hand to answer any questions on what it’s like to study and live in Aberdeen. Commercial Photography students from Gray’s school of art will also be taking pictures at both campuses - their photos will be posted on the University’s Facebook page.
