Robert Gordon University's Aberdeen Business School and AVC Business Centre are to run the second in a series of unique Masters level one-day courses which aim to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry, on Friday 29 January.
Following on from a hugely successful taster course on ‘Project Management within the Communications Industry' in August, and resounding interest from the marketplace in a non-industry-specific project management class, the second in this series of courses will focus on managing projects in a more general sense.
Delivered jointly through commercial partnership between academia and industry professionals, January's course, entitled ‘Performance Management in Projects Master Class' will be delivered by University lecturer Langes Supramaniam, with input from leading industry practitioners. Taking place at AVC's state-of-the-art Business Centre, Langes will be looking at why projects continue to fail, how to monitor and control projects and how to set constructive project performance criteria. Delegates will be able to build the toolset they gain from attending into their everyday project environments.
Langes explained: "If you are tired of project failure, project management breakdown or you are not sure how best to achieve and measure project success, then this course could very useful. It's a great opportunity for both individuals and companies in the north-east to attend a course of this calibre locally.
"The courses are unique in that they give delegates the opportunity to ‘test the water' in postgraduate study and this particular session is useful in that it is not specific to any one industry. The first Master Class was really successful and I am sure that the combination of practising professionals brought together with academic expertise will be very well-received."
The master classes are particularly relevant to those in management positions or progressing to this level. Individuals who have not studied for some time, or those wishing to gauge their abilities at postgraduate level, would also benefit from these ‘taster' courses.
Simone Barnett, Head of Communication and Development at AVC, commented: "The AVC Business Centre is delighted to partner Robert Gordon University throughout these unique and highly valuable Master Class taster sessions. They provide a real opportunity for delegates to experience the cross-over between academia and the business world."
This Master Class costs £395, including lunch and refreshments, and is held at the AVC Business Centre, Altens, Aberdeen, AB12 3JG. For further information, or if you would like to attend, please contact Leanne Cooper or Kat Macpherson at AVC on 01224 248007 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
