Russian student, Oxana Lopatina, from Moscow has been awarded a full scholarship to attend Robert Gordon University (RGU).
RGU’s first full scholarship offered to a Russian National covers all tuition fees and accommodation costs for the duration of their study programme.
The ambitious 23 year old applied for the scholarship after being offered a place to study on RGU’s MSc Masters of Public Administration programme.
As part of the application process she was required to write a short statement in support of her application. This addressed why she was applying for the scholarship, how she would benefit from the opportunities the award would provide, and how she would contribute to the University community during her studies at RGU.
Successful Oxana embarked on RGU’s MSc Masters of Public Administration in September 2012 and is already settling into a Scottish way of life well; having explored Aberdeen, made new friends and become actively involved in university life.
Oxana said: “The scholarship allowed me to come to the UK and to study at RGU which is renowned for providing highly acclaimed business courses.
“It is a great honour for me to be chosen for the scholarship and a great opportunity to get high-quality education at RGU.
“Upon graduation I would like to get some more international experience and to spend a few years working in an international organisation. Afterwards I would like to go back to Russia and to apply the knowledge and experience I will have gained.”
Aberdeen, located in the north-east of Scotland, is the Energy Capital of Europe and enjoys a booming industry that centres on oil and gas, decommissioning and renewable energy.
RGU’s Aberdeen Business School is recognised globally for its excellence and praised for its courses which are developed in collaboration with industry, plus the opportunities for student industry placements. Its prowess in delivering both undergraduate and postgraduate courses has been acknowledged by The Times Good University Guide 2012, which named it ‘Best Modern University in the UK'. It has also been ranked in the global top 50 for its MBA programs by The Aspen Institutes Centre for Business Education and boasts approval from over twenty accreditation bodies.
